Interpreter Operations Manager Attends ISO Internal Auditor Training

Affordable Language Services has beenISO 9001:2008 certified for nearly 3 years. According to a Common Sense Advisory report, only “one in ten” language service providers (LSP’s) are certified worldwide. The ISO 9001:2008 certification demonstrates that we have an effective and documented process for the delivery of our interpretation and translation services and that our management team is committed to the highest standards in reviewing these processes to support continual improvement. An ISO 9001:2008 certification ensures our customers that they are dealing with a company of integrity.

As part of our commitment to continual improvement, the management team of Affordable Language Services sent Interpreter Operations Manager, Cori Grandle, to participate in a three-day ISO 9001:2008 Internal Auditor training in Dallas, Texas in November 2012. The first two days of training were dedicated to walking through the ISO 9001:2008 “Quality management systems -requirements” to develop a more complete understanding of the standards. A secondary goal was to effectively apply the standards to everyday work. The third day was dedicated to learning and reviewing the ISO 19011:2002 “Guidelines for quality and/or environmental management systems auditing”, which focuses on auditing techniques. Participation in this training reinforces our commitment to eight quality management principles:

  • Customer Focus
  • Leadership
  • Involvement of People
  • Process Approach
  • System Approach to Management
  • Continual Improvement
  • Factual Approach to Decision Making
  • Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationship

In the third quarter of 2013, Affordable Language Services will again go through the ISO 9001:2008 certification process. We have a detailed plan to review and make improvements, as needed, to our entire quality manual in the first quarter of 2013. We are excited for our upcoming re-certification and are pleased to demonstrate our commitment to quality and integrity.
