Affordable Language Services was once again certified ISO 9001:2008 in July 2015, for another three years in the delivery of translations and interpreting services. This marks our sixth year of certification This marks our sixth year of certification. What does this mean? ISO 9001:2008 is an internationally recognized standard for quality management systems. Adherence to this standard ensures that organizations, of all types, achieve standards of quality that are recognized and respected throughout the world.
Globally, only a small percentage of language service providers (LSPs) are ISO certified. Why? The simple answer is that becoming ISO certified is expensive, laborious, and does not guarantee increased revenue. However, we believe that going the extra mile to maintain quality is what is best for our customers and for our company. Our core values align with our ISO certification: pursuit of excellence, integrity, and accountability in all that we do.

What is ISO 9001:2008 certification?
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide standardization organization made up of entities from over 100 countries. The standards were initially created for the manufacturing and production industries, but have become increasingly relevant for translation service providers, such as Affordable Language Services. In order to become ISO 9001:2008 Certified, a company must first develop a strict standard of operation based on quality management principles, including:

Before achieving certified translation services status, a company’s quality management system must be inspected and recommended for certification by an external ISO auditor. The ISO 9001:2008 Certification lasts for three years and requires a yearly audit. It is one of the highest certifications a company can receive.
